Sexual Assault Prevention
Mandatory SVSH Prevention Training for ALL Students
In order to promote awareness of resources and reporting options, and in recognition of federal government regulations and UC system-wide guidelines, ALL students are required to complete sexual violence and sexual harassment prevention training. A hold will be placed on all student accounts that do not complete the requirements, stopping them from registering for courses in the next quarter.
Incoming Undergraduates (first-year and transfer) must complete TWO SVSH requirements
- Slugs CARE/Title IX Presentation (via Webinar)
- Online Sexual Assault Prevention (SAP) program which is part of We Are Slugs!
- Visit https://weareslugs.ucsc.edu/about/when.html for more information about the SAP Program.
The Mandatory Slugs CARE/Title IX training live webinar will take place on
- Option 1: Thursday, September 12: 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Cowell/Stevenson
- Option 2: Thursday, September 12: 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Porter/Kresge
- Option 3: Monday, September 16: 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Crown/Merrill/Rachel Carson
- Option 4: Monday, September 16: 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., College 9/JR Lewis/Oakes
All sessions are scheduled during Pacific Time.
Students should check their UCSC emails for an email that includes the Zoom information. Students must sign in with their UCSC emails and attendance will be recorded via Zoom. Please plan to attend from a quiet place where you can respond to polls and learn from other UCSC undergraduate students about resources, campus culture, and the Sexual Violence Sexual Harassment policy which protects our campus community.
In order to complete this mandatory assignment, in addition to attending the webinar, all incoming undergraduates must pass a quiz based on the material presented in the presentation. An invitation to the 2024 Slugs CARE and Title IX Canvas course will be sent out following the live webinar. Within the Canvas course, students must pass the quiz.
Students who missed the live webinar must view the video makeup and pass the quiz. See below for an alternative training option.
Sexual Assault Prevention (SAP)-online program
Incoming undergraduates must ALSO complete Sexual Assault Prevention (SAP) created by Vector Solutions. Sexual Assault Prevention (SAP) is part of the We Are Slugs! curriculum for all incoming undergraduates and is one of three required online programs. For more information visit weareslugs.com.
Returning undergraduates must complete one SVSH requirement
- Online Sexual Assault Prevention (SAP) program: A link to completing this requirement will be emailed to your school address by the first week of classes. You must watch one video and complete the quiz at the end. Not completing this requirement will lead to a hold being placed on your account, preventing you from registering for the next quarter.
Alternative Training Option
Survivors of sexual violence can request an alternative training option by emailing the confidential CARE Office at care@ucsc.edu. Please include the name of the training that you were assigned, your student id number, and UCSC email address.
Accessibility
If you need any support accessing either of the trainings due to a disability-related access concern, please email titleix@ucsc.edu.
